On behalf of the Government of Saskatchewan, I am pleased to welcome all those attending the 1998 Saskatchewan Winter Games in Nipawin, February 22 -28.

The Saskatchewan Winter Games offers our young athletes the wonderful opportunity to display their talents and exceptional skills as well as good sportsmanship and cooperation.   Established in 1972, this week-long event continues the tradition of staging the games every two years in various communities, and I know that the citizens of Nipawin will proudly carry on this legacy by producing an outstanding show!

It gives me great pleasure, too, to wish all competitors much personal success at this year's competition.  You have worked hard to prepare for the Winter Games, and I know that, once again, spectators and guests will be thrilled by the high level of athletic ability that exists in Saskatchewan.

To the many organizers and volunteers, I extend a genuine thank you for your hard work and dedication to ensure the smooth running of this event.   And, to all visitors, welcome to Nipawin! I am sure that in addition to the games, there will be many more exciting venues to explore.

Once again, welcome to all, and best wishes for a successful 1998 Saskatchewan Winter Games!
